We got a note from our old friend Brian Hart (not that he's old, but we've known him a long time) that he and his group Bua will be playing at the Celtic Junction this Friday, Feb 3, at 7:30 p.m.
Some of you know that Brian is an exceptionally capable sean-nós singer, deftly applying the traditional style to songs in both Irish and English. At a young age he became the first American to win an All-Ireland traditional singing competition, so if you are interested in great traditional singing, this is a night for you.
Not that singing is all of it, by any means, the group of four features a wide array of instruments and includes our own exceptional local talent Brian Miller, a name well-known to anyone who follows traditional Irish music. The Celtic Junction blurb shares more about each of the four members of the group.
If you are interested in the Irish language, the traditional singing style, or great Irish music, get to the Junction this Friday.
If you've been to our fundraiser, you have enjoyed the dancing of Rince na Chroí ("Dance of the the heart"). They have generously donated a rousing finale to our fundraiser for several years now.
For more great entertainment (including 150 dancers, a little larger scale than our event at the Dubliner!), check out their annual show at St. Kate's O'Shaughnessy Auditorium, "From the Stage to Your Heart," Saturday, February 18 at 7 pm.
The dancers will be working with local favorite The Two Tap Trio. Visit the St. Kate's online box office to get tickets, and stop by the Rince na Chroí web site for more about this dance school and other performances.
Thanks to everyone for coming out to our annual fundraiser on the 29th, we had a great time.
If you didn't make it, please consider turning in your donation to your instructor at class in the next couple of weeks. Or if we won't be seeing you for a while, you can drop us a note for a mailing address to send in your five bucks.
Meanwhile, we want to mention that we are grateful to:
It was a great afternoon and got us off to a wonderful start for the year!
